Początki kultury muzycznej Starego Waliszowa związane są z tamtejszą świątynią pw. św. Wawrzyńca. Prawdopodobnie już w XVIII wieku istniała tam kapela muzyczna. Prowadzona była przez miejscowych nauczycieli, którzy byli jednocześnie organistami i kościelnymi. Na przełomie XIX i XX stulecia funkcję chórmistrza pełnił przez 37 lat Josef Ho1 mann. Za jego kadencji miejscowi muzycy włączyli się w ogólnoniemiecki ruch odnowy muzyki kościelnej. W 1905 roku odbył się w Starym Waliszowie walny zjazd członków Stowarzyszenia Cecyliańskiego Hrabstwa Kłodzkiego. A particular favourite amongst the numerous 19th century „manuals for organists” was the Handbuch für Organisten, which was published for the first time in 1871 by Leuckart in Leipzig. Its author was Bernhard Kothe, a famous Silesian organist, conductor, composer, teacher, publicist, editor and an organiser of musical life. The Handbuch is a handy volume destined mainly for liturgical use. The collection comprises 346 smaller pieces of organ music, 46 modulation samples as well as an additional compilation of 18 easy preludes in the most frequently used ranges. Kościół św. Barbary w Drogosławiu jako ważny ośrodek cecylianizmu na ziemi kłodzkiej

Idee reformy cecyliańskiej znalazły podatny grunt w Drogosławiu, gdzie w 1911 roku wybudowano kościół filialny ku czci św. Barbary. Dzięki działalności kantora i organisty Bruno Kiefela (1877–1955) po raz pierwszy w hrabstwie kłodzkim wprowadzono tu śpiew chorałowy z udziałem wiernych. Kiefel zasłynął też jako wirtuoz organowy i kompozytor. Na potrzeby utworzonego przez siebie w 1911 roku chóru kościelnego napisał kilkadziesiąt utworów, które cieszyły się dużą popularnością w regionie. Royal Catholic Teacher Seminars, which fist appeared at the beginning of the 19th century as a result of Prussian educational reform, took on an important mission of training future organists. Therefore in many Silesian parishes of the 19th and the fist half of the 20th centuries it was a common practice for teachers to be organists at the same time. As it is shown by the experiences of Upper Silesia, teacher seminars were the source of highly qualifid church musicians. Inviting a child to the world of music lies first with the parent and then with the teacher. The popularity of various types of textbooks, songbooks or guidebooks indicates a great interest in music education. Although singing cannot be learned from a book, such studies are a great help. In the tradition of the Catholic Church, music is an indispensable and integral part of its solemn liturgy. This statement is a reminder of a centuries-old belief in the unity of these two realities. Over the centuries, various causes have resulted in periods of better or worse condition of liturgical music. The second half of the 18th century and the beginning of the 19th century were considered a time of crisis. It manifested itself primarily in the low level of education and carelessness of church musicians, as well as the lack of appropriate musical literature and drawing on secular models.
